This is a very rare and unique piece of prison art in the form of a celluloid sweetheart photo cameo pendant. These rare items of prison art were hand-crafted by prison inmates from celluloid, plastic and bakelite toothbrushes and combs -- whatever they had at their disposal, to create these very intimate pieces of primitive art in vintage plastics for the important people in their lives from whom they were separated. Staring at the faded photograph on the back, we wonder who this lady might have been...a mother, a sister...a sweetheart? We will probably never know. Although all of this type of jewelry is quite rare, rings are most often found and we have never seen a pendant and certainly not a nostalgic one like this that has a faded picture of a woman embedded within a diamond on the back. This is an unbelievable find. The raised cameo on the face of the pendant is quite thick and appears shadowed in the photo because of its thickness. This nostalgic vintage prison art cameo pendant measures approximately 1-1/4 x 7/8". It has its original embedded pendant finding.
