William B. Kerr Art Nouveau locket in sterling silver is #1577 from the American Beauty Series with the stylized repousse woman's head. The large locket measures approximately 1-1/2" round and has its original 24" sterling silver chain. The inside of the locket has its original frames and the original, but very cloudy, mirror on one side and the moire backing and plastic on the other. It is marked "Sterling" "1577" and has the Kerr hatchet or axe mark with the Xs on it. The locket is in Very Good/Excellent Condition with one small ding on the back near 6 O'Clock. There are beautifully ornate engraved initials on the back. The lockets clasp closes smartly and the chain and spring ring closure are in Excellent Condition. This is a wonderful, rare and quality William B. Kerr Art Nouveau locket that dates from approximately 1899 to 1906 when the company was sold to Gorham.
